Deathly Encounters!
A lively, after dark, encounter with death culture…
6pm Public talk by Dr Anna Williams at the Duckworth Laboratory.
7pm Deathly Encounters! at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, the Good Death team are putting on a deathly spectacle. Join us in Cambridge for a night devoted to exploring cultures of dying well.
We kick off with a public lecture from “Forensic Anna” – forensic anthropologist Dr Anna Williams, who will speak about the debates around unique outdoor forensic laboratories known colloquially as ‘Body Farms’ in the USA and Australia. The talk is hosted at the Duckworth Laboratory.
Then why not join us after dark to explore the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and get involved in our ‘death fayre’, with opportunities to contribute your own artistic interpretations as well as to explore the amazing artefacts which make up the MAA’s collections.
Both events are ticketed separately and are suitable for adults. Anna’s talk on forensic anthropology will include graphic imagery related to decomposition of human remains.
